There is snow on the ground in 49 of the 50 states in the US. I was sitting by my bedroom window reading the paper and enjoying the beautiful view. Everything looks so bright and serene covered in fresh snow. My mind moved to thinking about the distinct patterns of individual snowflakes and having also been thinking about how would shape and pattern affect the way we read the newspaper – I started to cut patterns into today’s NYTimes in the way I made paper snowflakes as a kid. When I was done, there was something uplifting about the shapes and patterns and I felt different about the news I read today. Perhaps packaging does make a difference on how we feel about what we read.
