I thought about several things as I read the articles on Egypt in The New York Times today. I was drawn to the image of the large demonstration, as well as the article, “Quiet Acts of Protest on a Noisy Day.”  Strong words  were written in the article — “revolution”, “victory”, “liberation”. But, what resonated the most for me was the mention of a former general who, although mute, intended to be heard on this day of protest. He wrote four simple words on paper that silently echoed the words that others shouted in the crowd.

My artwork today reflects on the importance of listening to this quiet (during any type of stressful or tumultuous situation) with the hope of creating balance, peace and stillness.
