I read an article in The New York Times today about a man who makes “playful micro-shelters out of junk.” These charming “tiny houses” are made of scavenged materials and cost less than $200 to build. The carpenter stated that a lot of these structures were about what could be built for homeless people “where they could sell their own street-wares, as outlandish as it sounds.”

Although small, they are big on “imaginative and decorative details.”

I was inspired to create my own micro-structure out of the newspaper today. A little bit of color and personal touches, similar to the carpenter’s creations, help to give it the warmth that it lacks structurally.

As stated in the conclusion of the article, these creations are “…not outlandish at all. Very original. Just wait until spring.”
