In the Shadow of Blue Mountain copyright Anne Dushanko-Dobek 2011

Silent Voices is an ongoing series which includes Terrorists Diaries. The latter began in 1982 by documenting deaths and injuries from terrorist attacks as well as  repression of political activists.. Most of the data for specific works has come  from articles in the New York Times and, more recently, with updates  from the Huffington Post. The format for these works on paper consistently includes a red border referencing the black border of death announcements, hatchmarks indicating the death count, and date and location stenciled on the surface. Seen in toto, the installation is  a devastating  commentary on our continuing inability to resolve cultural, religious and political differences nonviolently.
