I constructed Madonna from the pages of AM New York, a free daily newspaper designed for morning commuters. The whole paper is designed to be read in the span of a subway ride, so it is usually pretty sparse with information.
The mother of the alleged terrorist , Jose Pimentel, apologized for her son saying she’s “very disappointed” in his plans to bomb post offices, police cars, and soldiers returning from the war.
Often, people blame the parents of violent or psychopathic people. The assumptions are that through neglect or physical/emotional abuse, the criminal was transformed into a cruel and vindictive individual.
But, what if it wasn’t the parent’s fault?
It scares the hell out of me to think that an innocent child could some day grow up to commit horrible acts against humanity.
Pimentel’s mother was also quoted saying that she cannot believe her son could be accused of this attempted crime:
“A lot of people are saying a lot of things — my son wasn’t like that,”
