Sam Hickson (b. Chester, UK, 1985) came to London to study Media Theory at London College of Communication followed by Fine Art Skills and Practice at Central Saint Martins. Most recently he is studying Print at Wimbledon School of Art. His work is fuelled by the big questions of mans existence. What makes me ..me? and do I really exist in this reality at all?. Suggesting a multitude of complex perceptual realities clashing, challenging ideas of the reflected gaze and the uncanny. A pushing and pulling between; the rational and the ephemeral, systemising the romantic as therapy for the creator, observing from critical distance one’s self. His work is focused in its investigation but practically moves back and forth between print a video.
