After a 30-year hiatus, I came back to photography, inspired by a course I took with Michael Sibilia. Although I began in the black & white darkroom tradition, this time I am interested in the widest range of photographic expression ranging from digital light painting to photographic “divination” based on Taoist principles found in the I Ching.

Heinz Insu Fenkl is an author, editor, translator, folklorist, and professor of Creative Writing at the State University of New York, New Paltz. His fiction includes Memories of My Ghost Brother, an autobiographical novel about growing up in Korea as a bi-racial child in the ’60s. He was a Barnes and Noble “Great New Writer” in 1996 and Pen/Hemingway finalist in 1997. Currently, he is on the editorial board of AZELEA, Journal of Korean Literature & Culture published by Harvard University’s Korea Institute, and he is translating the 17th-century Korean Buddhist novel, The Nine Cloud Dream by Kim Man-jung.
