Sean Jerd was born and raised in San Diego, California.  His interest in photography began relatively late in life.  In 2006, he received a BFA in photography from California College of the Arts in Oakland.  Jerd’s work embraces the belief in photography as transcendent while at the same time accepts it as a flawed medium.

He is consumed with the idea of a perfect a print while never losing sight that a photograph is simply a piece of paper.  He expresses it this way, “Photography is perfectly imperfect.  We connect to photography in such a direct way because of its implied realness and yet it gives itself away as an impostor just as easily.”  Jerd had solo shows at Forthrite printing in 2008 and Erica Tanov in 2009.  He is currently working on a monograph titled “Completely Visible”.
